Friday 1st June Breakfast and we booked Scott in for the morning at Camp Splash. This is fantastic for parents who want a bit of quiet time without the kids and it's free which is even better!! We then headed off to Sindhu beach market to get some clothes. Amazing as shar^kie was awake again at 8 am. After a long chin wag with the girls at Toot Sie's 750,000 Rp on Visa, 3 new watches ( Mens Seiko 40,000Rp and Ladies Gucci + Baby-G 25,000 Rp each ) .We wandered around Sanur beach area for a little while, chatting & having a laugh with the beach stall owners while having a cool drink, before heading back to the hotel to pickup Scott from "Camp splash". Kicked back most of the afternoon at the hotel and Koala headed into Denpasar for a visit to Ramanyanas. Problem was she amassed so many vcds(20,000-30,000rp) and playstation games (5,000rp) that it made it impossible to go shopping for anything else. She got a lift back with a young uni student,Wayan who spoke excellent english and offered a reasonable first price for the trip (20,000rp)back to the hotel. He even went out of his way to explain different buildings and a good discussion about the education facilities in Aus and Bali ensued. Back at the hotel after a quick shower ,we headed off to the Koki Pub/Restaurant for dinner. This bar/restaurant is very popular with the ex pats and you know why. Great food, hospitality and cold drinks. Well worth a trip to if you are in the Sanur area. (about 10 mins by taxi along the main road to Kuta from Sanur. ) We had 2 x Scotch fillet steaks with pepper sauce, fries and garden salad 39,000Rp ea 2 x Bintangs @8,500ea and a scoop of chocolate ice cream for Scott 2,000rp. Making it 98,000Rp plus tax 15% total 112,700Rp. address is JL By pass Nigurah Rai No 9 X Blanjong Sanur tel (0361) 287 503
Saturday 2nd June Back from Legian, Scott wanted to go back to camp splash at the Radisson suites so we signed him in and we took the opportunity to have a look at the Makro store. This place has everything from food and beverages to TV's & Stereo's, a butchers shop, frozen food section and heaps of baby needs. Cost is 5,000Rp to enter per visit or 20,000Rp for a years pass. You cannot take in any bags/cameras etc.. so we reluctantly left the digital camera at the information counter. shar^kie bought a slab ( case ) of 24 Bintang cans for 117,000rp inc tax. Koala bought a case of diet coke for 47,000Rp inc tax. Sweets and nibblys were so cheap you bought them by the box. below will give you an idea. ( We mainly purchased sweets and nibblys as we have Balinese friends coming to visit and they are bringing their kids.
10 pks fairy floss 6,250Rp They do not take Visa/Mastercard/Bankcard but they do eftpos,Diner's Club and there are a heap of ATM's there. We packed all our goodies into boxes and hailed a taxi back to the hotel. The hotel staff smiled at our haul and loaded them onto a luggage trolley to bring up to our room. They probably see a lot of this as our suites have full kitchen facilities so no doubt many people do shop at Makros for supplies. Will post again ASAP with pic's of Sammy and Sussy's big bash at the forum bar.
Cheers from Bali
